bugle blows and choral hymns

and when the tide sweeps back
will we know it for what it was

stone-smooth wishes
held in dear little marsupial pouches

mine own Telemachus
reading out the lines carefully

the rueful girl
with hair blown wild in the dirge-like wind

listen close now
for my sonata with the missing bars
and your bow without a fiddle
